This event will be the first meeting of the newly formed Association of Virginia Audiologists and will be held in conjunction with James Madison University’s annual Ruth Symposium. JMU’s Ruth Symposium will be held on Thursday, November 5th, 2026. More information about the Ruth Symposium will be released in the coming weeks!
AVA’s Pre-Convention Social Event

The AVA Convention will kick off with a social mixer on the evening of Thursday, November 5, at Ruby’s Arcade in downtown Harrisonburg. Come mix and mingle with colleagues and enjoy a night of pizza, duck pin bowling and retro arcade games! Mixer registration is $30 and will cover food and access to the arcade. A cash bar will be available.

The AVA Convention will feature guest speaker Dr. Kim Cavitt, an expert in billing and coding. Dr. Cavitt will also address Virginia-specific policies. Her presentation is timely in the formation of our new state organization and will highlight areas of interest for AVA’s membership.
Additionally, the convention will include a student poster session, an exhibit hall with various manufacturers and a silent auction.
Attendees will earn up to 6 hours of ASHA/AAA CEUs. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
